Welcome
Elsie Kopcha holds a BA and MPA from New York University. She took on community volunteerism after retiring in 2014 from a 37 year career on Wall Street. In 2015 she challenged herself to expand her comfort zone by volunteering as Guest Ambassador at New Jersey’s Liberty Science Center. She morphed from creating spreadsheets to creating faux snow with the children. In 2017 she received the Patrice Connolly Memorial Award for Volunteer of the Year for her contributions to the Live From Surgery program.
Currently she is a RSVP volunteer and a Board Member of the Sullivan County Historical Society and Museum.
She serves as the Liberty Rotary Interact Liaison at Liberty High School. She also contributes to preparing and serving Liberty Rotary dinners at the Interfaith Food Pantry. She chaired the 2023 Monticello Rotary Coat Drive which collected over 250 coats for distribution by United Way.
Weekly she packs over 80 bags of food at A Single Bite which are delivered to families in the community. Monthly she packs 135 bags at Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Community Cupboard which are delivered to seniors in the community.
Summers she volunteers for various programs at Fort Delaware in Narrowsburg. She received the 2023 James W. Burbank Memorial Award for significant contributions supporting the history of the Upper Delaware Valley.
When she is not doing community service you can find her experimenting with new recipes in her kitchen.
