Alexander Bossert Seeks to Assist Local Schools

Alexander Bossert attended our September 12th meeting to tell us about his Eagle Project for Boy Scouts. Alex is a senior at Liberty High School and an honor student. In order to achieve Eagle Scout, he must do a project that benefits the community, the school, or some organization.
Alex’s project will be to provide schools with 200 emergency “grab and go bags”. These bags would be an invaluable resource for the teachers and substitutes if some emergency should occur. Should a situation arise in which students needed to be kept a long period of time or evacuated to another area, teachers would grab the bag, which would contain rosters and teacher info., flashlights, water, reading material to entertain the kids(crayons, books) blankets, whistle, tissues, rubber gloves, a first aid kit and more.
Alexander originally set a modest goal of 30 bags, but has now expanded the idea to meet the quota for every classroom in the district. He tells us $150 would cover his needs. Bags would be $35 each. A local doctor’s office giving the first aid kits and a dentist will provide the rubber gloves for these bags.
Mr. Strassman and Mr. Siegel speak very highly of this young man as both a student and a person. Liberty Rotary Club President Dan Parkhurst heard Alex’s presentation at a School Board meeting and informed us that he was very impressed with the presentation and support documentation. Dan presented a check for $100 from the President’s fund to assist Alex in achieving his goal. We will be discussing offering further financial assistance.
We wish young Mr. Bossert the best of luck in reaching his lofty goals and thank him his commitment to his scout troop and school.
