Andrew Oni is a community health specialist, focusing on mental health, and is implementing a program called Mental Health First Aid.  He works with Amanda Langseder, Director of Community Health at Catskill Regional Health Center.
Andrew explained the importance of removing the stigma often associated with mental health issues and speaking openly about the importance of good mental health and hygiene.  Through the Mental Health First Aid program, those that serve our community will be able to identify the signs of those in need of mental health assistance and help them get the services needed.  As he pointed out, when we suffer a physical ailment, we seek medical attention immediately.  The same should be true for mental health ailments.
We thank Andrew for his informative and thought provoking words.  It is a great thing that Catskill Regional Medical Center is providing support for the  Mental Health First Aid program.
