Iman Elgingehi spoke with the Liberty Rotary Group about Sullivan County Community College's "College in the High School" program.  Through this program, students are now able to graduate with up to 30 college credits at a discount rate.  This opportunity gives students a sense of the rigor that comes with college level courses and reduces the financial burdens associated with higher learning.  Elgingehi tells us students are able to take a variety of courses at about $50 per credit.  Liberty Rotarian Jack Strassman spoke enthusiastically about the program and the incredible benefits it offers our students.

Elginhehi also spoke of some of the new programs that were being introduced at SCCC.  One that is particularly well received is a program in Respiratory Care, which is the only of its kind in the region.  Sullivan College is hoping to build a niche in the medical field that will make it truly unique.

The Sullivan County Community College Foundation provides scholarships to high school students graduating with a GPA of 90% or higher.  Mr. Strassman estimates that about 20 students would be eligible to attend Sullivan (if they choose to do so) through a Foundation Scholarship.
