David and Nan Greenwood gave a wonderful presentation to the Liberty Rotary Club about The Rotary Youth Exchange.

The enthusiasm about the program and the strong bond to the students they have worked with was very evident as David and Nan shared the particulars of the program. Numerous photos of the participants and their ability to refer to each participant by name and nationality made clear the strong emotional bond they developed with these exchange students.  The photos further indicated that the participants had a rich and enjoyable visit to our country and learned much while interacting with local Rotary Clubs.

Inbound participants come to our country from Rotary Clubs around the world and join new families.  While here, they attend high school, become involved in community events, share information about their country and culture, and eventually return home as an ambassador for the Rotary Clubs of the United States.

Outbound students join families in countries around the world and gain language fluency, experience new cultures, and become ambassadors for our country.  This helps these youths to grow in every way and become “global citizens”.  Upon their return, they can share their experiences with their peers and their host Rotary Clubs.  It is hoped that in addition to providing these exceptional people with memories to last a lifetime, that they will eventually become Rotarians.

We thank David and Nan for this heart warming and fascinating presentation.  The work they have done with the program is wonderful and we hope they will come back and see us again soon.
