Debbie Morelli Speer, Vice President of The Professional Women of Sullivan County was accompanied by member Karen Pantel to tell us a bit about their organization and make a very special presentation.  The mission of the  Professional Women of Sullivan County is to help build women, personally, professionally and politically.  This organization has been in existence since the 1970s and their biggest claim to fame has been to provide scholarships to young women continuing their education.  These scholarships often target mature women who are re-entering the academic world.  This year, they will grant 10 - $500 scholarships.

We were privileged to have Debbie and Karen announce the winner of this year's Distinguished Community Service Award , who is Liberty Rotary's own Barbi Neumann Marty.  Ms. Morelli credits Barbi with meeting the following criteria.
  • Providing outstanding service to her community
  • Well respected among her peers and community as an "Achiever"
  • Respected publicly and privately
  • Having an impeccable public and private reputation
  • Having high standards of personal ethics and integrity
  • A motivator of others
  • Not being politically motivated
  • Humble yet self confident
  • Personable and poised
Those of us that are fortunate to know Barbi Neumann Marty can confirm that she exemplifies each of the above items and is extremely worthy of this honor.  Barbi is a hard working woman who serves her community through her profession and her Rotary club.  She is selfless in her commitment to our youth and those in need.   We at Liberty Rotary Club think the Professional Women of Sullivan County have made an outstanding choice for this prestigious award and we were honored to have it announced at one of our meetings.

Congratulations to Barbi and her family.  We are so very proud of you!
