One of the leaders of the Liberty Little League, Lou Siegel, came to a Liberty Rotary Club meeting to explain the wonderful things that the league does for our youth and community.   The program serves hundreds of children in the district from T-ball to the majors and as the safety requirements for the equipment get stronger, the costs to run the program keep rising and money is really tight.  In unanimous votes by the board, Liberty Rotary has donated funds to sponsor a team and help the league purchase equipment.

Lou "Uncle Lou" Siegel has been involved with Liberty Little League for about 13 years and it was clear that this program is dear to him.  As the 2012 season approaches, the Liberty Little League Board is looking for sponsorship dollars.  In a program where no child is turned away, meeting the cost of uniforms, hats, activities, and awards can be a challenge.  This issue is compounded by  the fact that equipment costs have risen substantially.  Mandatory bat regulations, changed due to safety concerns, require replacement of many of the bats the league owns.
Mr. Siegel was also good enough to explain the "code of conduct" for parents.  Parents are required to sign this "code of conduct" to assure that all adults attending the games act in an appropriate and civilized manner.  He also explained that teams are arranged in a way to assure that all have skilled players and novices.  Every student that participates will play at least 3 innings in each game.
Mr. Siegel requested that Liberty Rotary Club consider becoming a sponsor of Liberty Little League.  At the next board meeting, all agreed that Little Legue is very important to our youth.  The board voted to sponsor a team and give additional donations for equipment.
