Liberty Rotary Club was delighted to have Marj Linko as a guest speaker on April 20th.  At that meeting, she explained the plans are being made for the upgrading and expansion of our local library.
The current library is 50 years old with access restrictions for those with disabilities.  It also lacks appropriate bathroom facilities and needs masonry and electrical upgrades.
The expansion and improvement plan will allow for bathroom facilities that meet ADA handicap-accessibility standards and also provide space for community programs.  Additinoally, it will provide adequate space for books and other media.
The project is still in its early stages, which is currently awaiting permission of the BOE to approve use of the land.  As the project moves forward, the costs to the taxpayer will be calculated, but at this time, Marj tells us that the increase will be quite modest.
We thank Ms. Linko for her presentation, so we can all better understand the need for improvements to our library and the proposed project.  We also thank her and the rest of the library staff for providing great service to our community and our children.
