On February 13th, Robert Dufour - Sullivan County BOCES Superintendent gave an update about the myriad of programs and services offered.  Sullivan County BOCES serves 8 component districts and adjusts its programs to meet the constantly changing needs of those school systems.  They provide specialized education services for students with disabilities, particularly because individual districts may not be able to offer such services on their own campuses.  They also offer career and technical education, which may include: auto shop, auto body, animal science, broadcasting/music production, construction, innovative design, culinary arts, early childhood education, health occupations and many more.  Some of their newer endeavors involve partnerships with Catskill Regional Medical Center and Sullivan County Community College. Additionally, they offer high school equivalency programs and ESL education.
Beyond programming, BOCES also acts a central business office for most of the county's school districts in the capacity of accounts payable, accounts receivable, paying services, payroll and more.  They also provide professional development for the teaching and administrative staff of our county schools.
It was impressive to hear of the wide range of programs and assistance that Sullivan County BOCES provides to our area and our local schools.  We thank Mr. Dufour for providing us with a lively and informative synopsis of all the good S.C. BOCES is doing in our region.
