On May 16, Rotary International celebrated its Epic Day of Service, when Rotary clubs around the world undertake impactful projects that promote goodwill and improve lives in their communities.
This year, the Liberty Rotary Club focused its Day of Service efforts at Achieve Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Liberty. Many of our members worked together to enhance the grounds and gardens by weeding and planting annuals and perennials to create a more welcoming and attractive environment. Other members shared their musical talents by providing instrumental and vocal performances for residents, including Joanna Gass, Cassie Porter and Gary Siegel. In addition, Rotarians spent meaningful time visiting with residents and offering companionship.
The project was directed by Shannon Barry, an Achieve employee and Liberty Rotarian, along with Liberty Rotarian Lewis Borko. We thank them and their committe as well as all the hard workers for an outstanding day. It was truly a team effort involving Liberty Rotarians, Achieve staff members, members of the Liberty Interact Club, and students from both Liberty and Monticello schools. We are hopeful that our efforts brought beauty, joy, and warmth to the residents of Achieve and demonstrated the spirit of service that defines Rotary.
