The Liberty Rotary Club celebrated Arbor Day 2018 twice this year, first on Friday April 27, by giving away more than 200 seedlings to every 5th grade, ESL, ABLE and self-contained special education student in the Liberty Central School District Middle School. In addition to the seedling, each student also received an Arbor Day pencil, sticker, flower pot and pamphlet with directions on how to plant their tree.  An Arbor Day poster was also given to each classroom.  Special thanks to Jeff Hall, whose ESL students packaged the seedlings for their fellow students.

On Monday, May 14, the Liberty Parks and Recreation department planted a Linden tree donated by the club near the playscape and Pavilion.  Liberty Rotary plans on donating a new tree each year over the next several years, providing shade and making the park more attractive.  Special thanks to Parks and Rec staff for their work, and Rotary Club members Barbara and Peter Blakey, Dave Thomson and Bill Silver who assisted in the planting.
