ImageCarol Vandenberg dropped by for our March 19th meeting to update us on the amazing growth the Liberty Soap Box Derby has enjoyed.  This year's derby promises to be the biggest one so far boasting 69 cars in 4 classifications (stock, superstock, masters and superkids).  One winner from each classification will have the honor of heading out to Akron to compete against winners from all over the world.

Carol has informed us that there have been numerous improvements made to the event to make it run even smoother.  There will be 4 trailers pulled by gators working to return cars to the top of the hill more quickly.  Last year's numbering system will be used again to make it easier to get cars in the correct racing positions faster.  And most important, the road has been paved and covers for the manhole covers will be used to assure a fast and safe ride for our competitors.

Liberty Rotary will be entering its car in this year's competition.  The board will be discussing sponsorship options so that Liberty Rotary Club can help make this event occur.  For those that work the day of the event, rest up as there is generally much to be done.
