ImageSarah Dittmar of R.I.S.E. (Rape Intervention Services and Education) spoke at the April 10th meeting.  The RISE program provides a 24 hour, 7 days a week crisis helpline to assist victims and survivors of rape.  Additionally, her staff provides individual counseling, support groups(including a teen survivor group), advocacy services during examination, investigations, court appearances, interviews ..., and assistance with finding housing, WIC, and Early intervention.

Rise wants the people who leave their office to feel as good and strong as possible.  Ms. Dittmar tells us that clients are treated as survivors, not victims, and assists them to develop the skills and supports to normalize their lives.  Last year RISE assisted 567 people in need, of which many were under the age of 18.

Ms. Dittmar was promoting RISE's most important fundraising event of the year, "Walk a Mile In Her Shoes".

Liberty Rotary Club was proud to make a donation to RISE and assist them in the very important work they do.  If you or anyone you know needs the assistance of RISE, please call 791-9595.
